Post-match discussions revealed that Yamal’s annoyance stemmed from instructions being relayed to him by goalkeeping coach Jose Ramon de la Fuente. Barcelona manager Hansi Flick addressed the situation, suggesting that such feelings are natural for a player of his age.
“I mentioned this after the game on Saturday. He put in a tremendous effort down the wing, and at times it’s understandable for him to feel frustrated. What we need to remember is that Lamine is just 18 years old. When you review the game, you can see him dribbling past multiple defenders and almost netting a goal. It’s a positive sign that he’s emotional; sometimes, his frustration may even stem from his own high expectations,” Flick stated.
Flick went on to emphasize his support for Yamal, noting the importance of nurturing his development. “I will always stand behind him. It’s crucial we approach his growth carefully. He is a brilliant player, and with time, he could become even better. I reassured him that he has what it takes and that I will always protect him. It’s vital that he flourishes in the right environment,” Flick added.

Tasked with filling in for Raphinha once more, he is still adapting to the demands of his new role pursuant to a successful debut, despite criticism regarding his work rate.
