With a stunning display of attacking football, Yanga’s newcomers made an instant impact, signalling their ambitions in the Mainland Tanzania Premier League.

In their league opener on Monday, defending champions Yanga showcased their strength with a resounding 6-0 victory over Mashujaa, a match that highlighted the potential of their new signings, particularly Allan Okello, who shone on his debut.

Okello’s contribution, along with fellow new recruit Mohamed Damaro, was pivotal as the team laid down a marker for their rivals. Damaro, who arrived from Singida Black Stars, quickly opened the scoring just eight minutes into the match. Yanga’s scoring frenzy continued with goals from Duke Abuya, Pacome Zouzoua, Prince Dube, Mudathir Yahya, and Laurindo “Depu” Dilson, who made a memorable entrance from the bench.

From the outset, Yanga commanded the match, controlling possession and dictating the tempo. Damaro played a crucial role in the midfield, helping to shield the backline of Bakari Mwamnyeto and Dickson Job, allowing Yanga to dominate their opponents.

Okello Makes Instant Impact

Despite being new to the team, Okello displayed remarkable composure and quickly forged connections with his teammates. His ability to drift into central positions and create space for others was evident as he crafted three significant chances in the first half alone.

While Damaro provided stability in midfield, Okello’s flair added creativity to Yanga’s attack. He completed an impressive 10 passes within the first 20 minutes of the second half and consistently tested the Mashujaa goalkeeper, Erick Johola, who made several important saves to keep the scoreline respectable.

Yanga Send Warning to Rivals

Yanga’s relentless approach continued in the second half. Following substitutions, the newly introduced Mudathir Yahya and Depu injected fresh energy into the attack. Yanga remained fierce, maintaining their pressure and ensuring there was no let-up in intensity.

Depu, in particular, made headlines with a stunning contribution, combining physicality with clever movement to assist Yahya’s goal before adding one of his own late in the match. His performance delighted the Yanga supporters, who responded with enthusiastic applause.

This emphatic victory not only secured all three points but also served as a clear statement of intent for the season ahead, showcasing Yanga’s formidable talent pool and their readiness to defend their title vigorously.
