As the Premier League title race intensifies, Arsenal gears up to face Everton at the Emirates on Saturday, firmly aiming to extend their lead at the top of the table.

The Gunners, managed by Mikel Arteta, currently sit seven points clear of Manchester City, who have played one match more. Arsenal will be looking to capitalize on their robust position as they welcome a struggling Everton side, desperate for points to fuel their European ambitions.

Following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 earlier this week, Arsenal returns to domestic action with their eyes set on maintaining momentum. Everton, under David Moyes, poses a challenge as they seek to revive their season and push for a spot in European competitions.

One player to watch is Piero Hincapie, who recently featured against Leverkusen. Currently on loan from the German side, the Ecuadorian defender is expected to play a significant role in a backline that has conceded just 22 league goals this season. Although he has agreed to a five-year deal with Arsenal worth £45 million, Hincapie remains officially a Leverkusen player until the transfer is finalized.

Leverkusen Chief Discusses Hincapie’s Future

Before the Champions League clash, Bayer Leverkusen’s managing director Simon Rolfes touched upon the significance of welcoming former player Kai Havertz back to the BayArena. He also confirmed what many had anticipated regarding Hincapie’s future, stating: “He’s still officially our player and is only on loan at the moment. But it will come to the transfer, and I think for Piero it’s just as special too.”

“I’ve already texted him (Havertz) so I’m sure he’ll need a lot of tickets as he comes from here, so there will certainly be contact,” Rolfes added, highlighting the special connection between the players and the club.

Arsenal Eye Summer Reinforcements

In transfer news, Arsenal is reportedly plotting to bolster their squad further, with links to former Manchester City striker Julian Alvarez, currently impressing in La Liga with Atletico Madrid. Spanish outlet Sport indicates that Arsenal could benefit from Atletico’s unwillingness to sell to rival teams, which opens the door for a potential summer bid.

Atletico Madrid is said to require offers of over £86 million for the 26-year-old, who has already made a name for himself among Arsenal supporters following a standout performance against Tottenham, where he netted twice in a stunning 5-2 victory.
