In a thrilling display of resilience, Ghana’s Black Damsels clinched a hard-fought 2–1 victory over Tanzania in their second group match of the CAF African Schools Championship.
Following a dominant opening match, the Ghanaian team faced a left footing as Tanzania applied relentless pressure throughout the game. Nevertheless, Christiana Ashiaku’s standout performance secured the win for her side with two well-placed goals.
The action began early in the sixth minute when Ashiaku seized on Ghana’s initiating pressure, scoring to provide her team with a crucial early advantage.
Determined to respond, Tanzania regrouped, testing Ghana’s defensive line before successfully equalising by finding the back of the net.
However, Ghana swiftly regained their lead just after halftime, as Ashiaku struck again in the 36th minute. With poise, she finished off a well-executed move, restoring her team’s advantage.
Despite a late surge from Tanzania, Ghana demonstrated solid defensive capabilities, ultimately securing the 2–1 victory and preserving their perfect record in the tournament.
This result places Ghana in a robust position ahead of their final group match against Burkina Faso, which is scheduled for tomorrow, April 7, in Harare.
