Inter Milan showcased their title credentials with a resounding 5-2 victory over AS Roma at the San Siro, ending a three-match winless streak in Serie A and highlighting Roma’s ongoing struggles.

AS Roma was aiming for back-to-back league wins for the first time since January, but their aspirations suffered an early setback as Inter took the lead just a minute into the match.
Marcus Thuram capitalized on a long ball from Manuel Akanji, setting up Lautaro Martínez, whose deft finish put Inter in front.
Despite a challenging start, Roma’s goalkeeper Mile Svilar performed admirably, thwarting efforts from Hakan Calhanoglu and Martínez early on.

Roma gradually found their rhythm and nearly equalized when Donyell Malen’s header was spectacularly saved by Inter’s Yann Sommer.
The visitors continued to apply pressure and eventually found the net five minutes before halftime when Devyne Rensch delivered a cross for Gianluca Mancini to equalize.
However, Inter responded dramatically just before halftime as Çalhanoglu unleashed a stunning long-range shot, restoring their lead.
This pivotal moment shifted the momentum firmly in Inter’s favor as they struck again twice within the first 10 minutes of the second half.
Thuram created a three-on-two opportunity for Martínez, who scored his second goal of the match.
Thuram then added his name to the scoresheet, nodding in from a Calhanoglu corner to extend the lead.
As the match progressed, Nicolo Barella capitalized on a defensive mix-up to score Inter’s fifth, sealing a dominant performance.
20 minutes from the end, Lorenzo Pellegrini netted a consolation goal for Roma, but it did little to diminish the heavy scoring.
Inter have now won 10 of the last 12 encounters against Roma, while the Giallorossi continue to struggle, remaining winless in their last five away fixtures.
