Cedric Kaze believes that inconsistency and injuries to key players have been costly for the team this season.
At the beginning of the season, Kaizer Chiefs showed signs of a team that would be fighting for the Betway Premiership League title, but in the past few weeks, they went on to lose three games in a row before finally bouncing back with a 1-0 win over Durban City on Sunday at the FNB Stadium.

Addressing the media after the game, coach Cedric Kaze said that the team needed consistency, which was not there due to injuries and suspensions, which made it hard for them to have a solid first 11 for the season.
“You know every team needs consistency to get better results and it’s something that maybe people don’t talk enough, but I think that we have been very, very, very unfortunate in terms of injuries and suspensions that have crippled the team and didn’t allow us to have better performance into our lineup and I believe that if we don’t have those much of injuries we would have been more consistent than we are,” Kaze observed on why they can’t have a consistent first 11 throughout the season.
At the moment, Chiefs have players like Brandon Petersen, Rushwin Dortley, Given Msimango, Nkhanyiso Shinga, George Matlou, and Reeve Frosler on the injury list while Aden McCarthy and Sibongiseni Mthethwa missed the game against Durban City due to suspension, and Ethan Chislett had discomfort just a day before the game.
Amakhosi’s next Betway Premiership League encounter is against Magesi FC on Saturday at the Moses Mabhida Stadium from 15h30.
