As the race for the Nigeria Premier Football League title heats up, Rangers’ technical adviser Fidelis Ilechukwu has emphasized that his team is focused on performance rather than pressure. The club, with a storied history as eight-time champions, currently sits in second place on the league table, trailing Rivers United by just one point.
Alongside title contenders Ikorodu City and Nasarawa United, the competition remains fierce as the season progresses.

Ilechukwu Remains Optimistic About Title Goals
Ilechukwu expressed confidence in the squad’s capabilities, insisting they have the necessary tools to remain competitive through the final stretch of the season. He stated, “My job won’t be under threat if we don’t win the title this season; if you check the team and the management, we don’t put anybody under pressure to deliver.”
Praising his team’s resilience, Ilechukwu added, “A second place finish is a success for Rangers, but we don’t want to accept that; we have all it takes to fight until the end of the season.”
He noted the intense competition of the league, asserting that while the outcome of the top three remains uncertain, Rangers possess the strength required for a strong finish. “Currently, we don’t know the teams that will finish in the top three because the league is tight and tough, but what I can say is that we have the capacity needed to finish strong,” he concluded.
