Uli Hoeneß did not hold back in his criticism of the officiating after Bayern Munich’s rollercoaster encounter with Bayer 04 Leverkusen ended in a dramatic stalemate.
In a match marked by controversy and late drama, Bayern Munich were forced to settle for a point after a 1-1 draw against Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Saturday. The visitors fell behind early when Aleix Garcia scored for Leverkusen just six minutes into the game.
The situation intensified for Bayern as they had two goals disallowed during the match and faced a numerical disadvantage after red cards were issued to Nicolas Jackson in the 42nd minute and Luis Diaz, who received his second yellow in the 84th minute, leaving his team with only nine players on the field.
However, the Bavarian giants mounted a spirited comeback, with Diaz levelling the score in the 69th minute, following a clever assist from Michael Olise.
Following the match, Uli Hoeneß, Bayern’s honorary president, did not mince his words regarding the officiating, stating, “That is the worst performance by a refereeing team I have ever seen in a Bundesliga match,” as reported by Bild.
