Kaizer Chiefs co-coach Khalil Ben Youssef believes that a shift in mentality was critical to ensuring that Amakhosi maintain their winning streak in the match against Magesi FC.

The victory on Wednesday evening was their fifth in a row after having last lost to Richard’s Bay United in March.

Talking to the media after the game at the Peter Mokaba Stadium, Ben Youssef said that they had to work on their mentality before the game against Magesi to continue with the good form.

“I think the most important thing is that the performance came before. The performance was there. We discussed a lot about the mentality that we have to play, to prepare ourselves mentally for this game, because it will be a difficult game. But I’m so proud of the mentality that we show and the spirit that we show in the pitch,” the tactician told journalists.

In addition, the Tunisian-born mentor further indicated that he was proud of players like Reeve Frosler, among others, who came back from injury and did very well on the day.

“They give us support; they give us what we ask from them. Today, Reeve came back, and he gave us two assists. Khanyisa Mayo also scored his second goal in the league, and he’s also back, so it’s very good for the confidence of the striker,” Ben Youssef observed.
