In a recent turn of events, Chelsea-bound striker Emanuel Emegha has publicly addressed his one-match suspension from Strasbourg, prompted by controversial remarks that raised eyebrows among club officials.
The 22-year-old Dutch international, who is expected to join Chelsea from Strasbourg in 2026, faced disciplinary action for “failure to respect the club’s values, expectations, and rules.” The club’s decision came after Emegha’s candid comments in a recent interview.

As reported by L’Équipe and referenced by GFFN, his suspension relates to an interview during which Emegha confessed that he had initially believed Strasbourg was situated in Germany. Furthermore, he suggested that the team’s struggles could be attributed to his injury-related absence.
In light of the suspension, Emegha took to Instagram to express his remorse, stating: “I’m 22, I’ve made mistakes and I know that I have much to learn.” He continued, “And I must learn from this. I know that I must do better, and I will, on and off the pitch to represent the club.” Emegha also acknowledged the support he has received from his club, adding, “He (Marc Keller) knows how much I love this club and how much I work every day. I also extend my thanks to my teammates, the staff, head coach Liam Rosenior and Sporting Director David Weir and everyone associated with the team. On Saturday, I will 200% back the team like a supporter.”
