Inter’s ability to involve more players is proving more important than their summer signings, according to journalist Luca Marchetti, after Cristian Chivu’s side recovered to beat Fiorentina 2-1 at San Siro on matchday eight.
The Nerazzurri scored twice in added time, between the 91st and 98th minutes, to complete another comeback victory. Speaking in the Sky Sport studio, Marchetti said the team’s main progress had come from making better use of players who had previously played less regularly.
“Has the transfer market improved Inter? They have not even had the three English players available,” Marchetti said. “Of the three, Jones is the one who has played the most, but, honestly, he has not really stood out.”
He added: “Inter are making the most of players who were used less in previous years. Diouf has changed position, while Bisseck is now undroppable. Carlos Augusto has found consistency in his performances, and the same is true of Sucic.
“Perhaps Stankovic or the other English players will have their opportunity soon.”
The analyst’s assessment also highlighted one of Chivu’s strengths as a coach. The Inter manager is frequently praised for the way he has built relationships within the squad, and Marchetti’s comments underline the importance of that approach.
Under Simone Inzaghi, there were perceived to be established first-choice players and the rest of the squad. Since Chivu took charge, every player appears to feel important and involved, a change that benefits both the team as a whole and the individuals within it.
Pulisic agrees framework for new Milan contract
Christian Pulisic has reportedly reached a basic agreement with Milan over a contract extension, according to journalist and transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano.
Romano revealed the development on his social media channels, with Milan understood to want to offer the American attacker a new long-term deal running until 2031.
The proposed agreement would represent a significant shift from the uncertainty that surrounded Pulisic’s future in recent months. The number 11 currently has a contract with the Rossoneri until 2027.
Pulisic has scored two goals and provided one assist in 432 minutes for Milan at the start of this season. The new information suggests the club are now seeking to secure his future for a further five years beyond his existing contract.
