Patrick Maswanganyi and Thabiso Monyane during the Betway Premiership match between Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs
Orlando Pirates could be set to unleash the attacking duo of Patrick Maswanganyi and Evidence Makgopa as they prepare for a crucial stretch in their Betway Premiership campaign, the club has hinted.
With more than one fixture scheduled in the coming days, indications are that the Buccaneers may rotate their squad, opening the door for Maswanganyi and Makgopa to take on more prominent roles after featuring off the bench in recent matches.

Pirates’ title charge continues on Tuesday evening with a trip to Athlone Stadium, where they are set to face Stellenbosch FC in what shapes up to be a pivotal encounter.
The clash marks the start of a decisive period in the season, with every point now carrying significant weight in the race for top honours.
For the Buccaneers, it is another must-win fixture as they look to close the gap on log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Currently trailing Sundowns by five points – albeit with a game in hand – Pirates know that victory in the Western Cape could significantly tighten the standings and keep them firmly in contention in what has been one of the most competitive title races in recent years.
However, they come up against a Stellenbosch side equally motivated, with the hosts still pushing to secure a place in the Top Eight and maintain their upward trajectory on the table.
Pirates head into the clash on the back of a frustrating result, having been held to a 1-1 draw in the Soweto derby against Kaizer Chiefs.
That stalemate extended their unbeaten run in the league to nine matches, though three of those have ended in draws – results that have slightly hindered their pursuit of top spot.
With the fixtures coming thick and fast, all eyes will be on whether Maswanganyi and Makgopa can seize their opportunity and provide the spark needed to reignite Pirates’ title push.

“With more than one fixture scheduled for the week, there could be a shuffling of the pack with the likes of Patrick Maswanganyi and Evidence Makgopa possibly set for bigger roles after making cameos in recent weeks,” Pirates stated on their official website.
On Saturday, Pirates will be away to Magesi FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane.
