In a bold move that showcases their commitment to nurturing potential talent, the Philadelphia Eagles have selected Uar Bernard with the 251st pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Originating from a small village in Nigeria, Bernard recently showcased his remarkable athleticism at the HBCU showcase, garnering attention from scouts and analysts alike. According to Bruce Feldman of The Athletic, “Bernard measured in earlier this week at the NFL’s HBCU showcase at 6-4 1/2, 306 pounds with 11-inch hands and almost 36-inch arms.” He also noted that, “Other people who have spent their lifetimes in football say Bernard looks like a Marvel creation.” This observation speaks volumes regarding Bernard’s physical prowess and potential impact on the field.

Demonstrating exceptional performance metrics, Bernard recorded a body fat percentage of just 6 percent, a 39-inch vertical jump, and an impressive 10-foot 10-inch broad jump—14 inches further than any other defensive tackle at this year’s combine. He clocked a remarkable 40-yard dash time of 4.63 seconds, further solidifying his status as an exceptional athlete.

The Eagles’ decision mirrors their previous success in taking a chance on Jordan Mailata, a remarkable athlete from Australia who had never played American football. This gamble paid off, and the organization seems optimistic about Bernard’s capabilities as well. Though he participated in drills as a defensive tackle during the showcase, his impressive measurements, including 11-inch hands and 36-inch arms, suggest the possibility of transitioning to offensive tackle, despite his height being just under 6’5.

The versatility and natural talent of Uar Bernard could become an exciting addition to the Eagles roster, leaving many eager to see how he will adapt to the professional landscape of American football.
