The stakes couldn’t be higher for both Orlando Pirates and Magesi FC as they prepare for a pivotal Betway Premiership clash on Saturday evening at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Orlando Pirates approach this crucial encounter with renewed confidence, riding a six-match unbeaten streak that has seen them earn 14 points from a possible 18. Currently positioned second in the league with 62 points, the Buccaneers are keen to close the gap on top-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.

Conversely, Magesi FC finds themselves in dire straits at the bottom of the table, struggling with just 21 points from 27 matches. They have secured only two wins and a draw in their last six games, making this match a must-win as they aim to stave off relegation.

A victory for Pirates would not only equal their points with Sundowns but could also see them set new records in various categories such as points, goals, and clean sheets for the season.

However, Allan Freese’s Magesi FC faces significant challenges ahead of the match, including the absence of two players on loan from Pirates, along with the suspension of Motsie Matima and potential injuries to Kgothatso Mariba.

Recognizing the urgency of both teams’ situations, Ncikazi emphasized the need for focus and determination from his squad. “It’s the stage of the season where all points are important,” the coach stated in an interview with Orlando Pirates TV. “Teams are looking for points for different reasons. The opponents are in the similar stage.”

He added, “We just have to focus on our process, analyze, stay tactically disciplined in the match, the confidence will be important, and then get the points and proceed with our journey.”
