Orlando Pirates have a number of club records in their sights to break in the current season but will that be enough to win the Betway Premiership title?
After Mamelodi Sundowns won ten league games in a row, it appeared as if the Brazilians would run away with the title, as they have done in the past few seasons.

However, two successive draws against Stellenbosch and Richards Bay have allowed Pirates back in the title race, making the final four, five matches of the respective teams very interesting.
The Buccaneers are already on course to break club records, as their highest points total in a season is 64 points, which was set in the 1999/2000 season when the league had 18 teams.
In a 16-team league, the highest number of points The Ghosts have posted is 61 points, achieved three times, in the 2000/01, 2002/03, and 2024/25 seasons.
Incredibly, Abdeslam Ouaddou’s charges are currently on 59 points, with four games remaining, which means they are more likely to set a club record in terms of total number of points at the end of the campaign and have a chance to even surpass the 64 points record set in an 18-team league.
In 1999/2000, a club record 64 points was not enough to win the title, as they finished second after Sundowns were crowned champions with 75 points.
Only twice in the 2000/01 and 2002/03 terms did the Pirates win the title with 61 points, as the same number of points (their highest in a 16-team league) was not enough last season, after The Brazilians won the league with 73 points.
The Buccaneers are also in line to break the most wins, as they equalled a club record of 19 wins last season (19 wins first achieved in 1990 before the PSL era, in a league of 18 teams). The current Pirates squad has already won 18 matches.
The most number of goals scored by The Black and White was 61 goals in 1989 (before PSL era) and 52 goals in the PSL era, in the 2004/05 season.
Pirates have already scored 51 goals and will likely set another new record, but will potentially breaking these club records be enough to win the title for the first time in 14 years?
