Tennis prodigy Jannik Sinner has his eyes firmly set on Grand Slam glory following his recent triumph at the Monte Carlo Masters. The 24-year-old secured his third ATP 1000 title of the year by defeating reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz 7-6 (7/5), 6-3, thereby adding to his remarkable achievements in 2023.
Having completed the coveted “Sunshine Double” with victories at both Indian Wells and Miami last month, Sinner’s win in Monaco places him alongside tennis legends Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal as one of only three players in history to clinch four consecutive ATP 1000 titles. He previously celebrated success in Paris at the end of last season.
In his post-match comments, Sinner expressed his ambitions for the future, acknowledging the gravity of the upcoming challenges. “It’s nice, obviously. I would be a liar to say anything else,” he said. “But it doesn’t change my thought process. I’m playing to win tournaments and Carlos and I are very close, so the rankings can change from one week to the next.”
As the tennis calendar pivots toward the Grand Slams, Sinner highlighted the significance of the French Open and Wimbledon. “There are two big Slams coming up, Paris and London. Let’s see where we are after those tournaments,” he remarked. “Right now, I’m focusing more on those than on the ranking. But waking up again as No. 1 is pretty nice.”
