In a thrilling showdown, Nottingham Forest secured their place in the UEFA Europa League semifinals, setting the stage for an all-English clash against fellow Premier League side Aston Villa.
This marks a historic moment as it is the first all-English semifinal in the Europa League since 1973.
Nottingham Forest triumphed over FC Porto with a narrow 1-0 victory at home, advancing with a 2-1 aggregate score after the teams played to a 1-1 draw in Portugal last week. “We showed resilience and determination, and we are looking forward to the next challenge,” said Forest’s Super Eagles defender Ola Aina, who played a significant role in the match.
Aston Villa, for their part, demonstrated their dominance by eliminating Bologna with a staggering 7-1 aggregate score, following a commanding 4-0 win at home on the same night.
The first leg of the Nottingham Forest versus Aston Villa semifinal will take place on April 30, and the return leg is scheduled for May 7 at Villa Park.
The victors of this semifinal will face the winners of the other tie featuring SC Freiburg and Sporting Braga in the final, set to be held in Istanbul on May 20.
