
In an exciting initiative aimed at promoting South African football enthusiasm, Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture, Gayton McKenzie, has revealed the winners of the eagerly awaited Mzansi to the World Cup Lucky Fan Competition.
This competition was launched amid controversy surrounding prominent superfan Mama Joy, whose recent international trips sparked a debate about expenses, with McKenzie disclosing that her latest journey to the Rugby World Cup cost over R800,000.
In response to public concerns, McKenzie has shifted focus, presenting multiple fans with the chance to experience a memorable trip, with applications accepted until Sunday, May 3.
On Tuesday, McKenzie announced the names of the 16 winners representing various PSL clubs, although four extra wildcard spots are still pending confirmation.
The 16 PSL club winners are:

- 10. Obakeng Mokgara (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- 11. Mamello Constance Makha (Mamelodi Sundowns)
- 12. Mickey Seroke Mokone (Orbit College FC)

In collaboration with major sponsors, the Mzansi to the World Cup Lucky Fan Competition promises to send twenty South African football enthusiasts on an all-expenses-paid trip to witness the Bafana Bafana’s opening match against Mexico in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to take place in Mexico City on June 11, 2026.
The comprehensive prize package includes:
- Return flights to Mexico
- Three nights’ accommodation with meals, conveniently located near the venue
- A match ticket for the Mexico vs Bafana Bafana game on June 11, 2026
- Ground transfers and travel support throughout the trip
Sixteen slots are reserved, representing one winner from each PSL club, alongside four wildcard spots available to fans from any club. Entries are being accepted in all twelve of South Africa’s official languages.
The selection panel, comprised of eight expert judges, will evaluate each entry, including a 30-second video submission, based on criteria such as enthusiasm, passion, fan engagement, narrative quality, and club loyalty. Decisions made by the panel will be final.
