Miguel Cardoso has continued to stamp his authority on the Betway Premiership title race after being named Coach of the Month for April, while Oswin Appollis walked away with a double honour following an impressive run of form for Orlando Pirates.

The Betway Premiership Monthly Awards, announced by the Premier Soccer League, recognised the standout performers for April, with Cardoso making it three consecutive Coach of the Month accolades.

The Mamelodi Sundowns tactician guided his side through an unbeaten stretch during the month, collecting three wins and two draws from five matches.

Those results proved crucial in strengthening Sundowns’ title charge, as they surged back to the summit of the standings.

Cardoso edged out competition from Abdeslam Ouaddou of Pirates, as well as the Kaizer Chiefs duo of Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, who have overseen an upturn in form at Naturena.

Meanwhile, Appollis enjoyed a standout month for Pirates, earning his maiden Player of the Month award after delivering consistently decisive performances in the final third.

Across four appearances, the forward registered four goals and one assist, underlining his growing influence in the Buccaneers’ push for silverware.

His clinical displays have added an extra dimension to Pirates’ attack at a crucial stage of the campaign.

To cap off a memorable month, Appollis also claimed the Goal of the Month accolade for his strike against AmaZulu FC at Orlando Amstel Stadium on April 18.

The goal highlighted his composure and awareness, as he created space before calmly finding the back of the net – a finish already being spoken of as one of the best this season.

The awards come as the season enters its final stretch, with the title race, Top Eight and relegation battles intensifying across the league.

Betway, as the Premiership’s title sponsor, continues to enhance fan engagement through initiatives such as S’bonise & Win and Dial Up fixtures, offering supporters the chance to win cash prizes while attending matches.

With momentum building heading into the closing weeks, both Cardoso and Appollis will be hoping to carry their form forward as their respective teams chase success on multiple fronts.
