In a significant revelation for tennis enthusiasts, Venus Williams has hinted at a potential return to the French Open for the first time since 2021. This announcement comes on the heels of her first-round exit at the Madrid Open, where she faced a challenging match against Kaitlin Quevedo, ultimately losing 6-2, 6-4.

Following her tenth consecutive defeat, Williams conveyed her enthusiasm for the clay surface, underscoring her determination to continue competing despite her recent setbacks. Although she has opted out of the upcoming Italian Open due to scheduling conflicts, the 42-year-old American expressed her firm commitment to the sport.

“Yeah, I mean, to get my feet dirty, this was a great start,” Williams stated after the match. “We would love to keep it going on the clay.” She further added, “All these things take adjustments. I haven’t really played on clay in years, but I enjoy it. It’s fun.”

Venus Williams, a four-time Olympic gold medalist, boasts an impressive career with seven Grand Slam singles titles and 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, all achieved alongside her sister, Serena Williams. The former World No. 1 reached the pinnacle of women’s tennis on February 25, 2002, and her potential return to Roland Garros this year has stirred excitement among fans and pundits alike.
