Despite a tumultuous season at Brighton & Hove Albion, Carlos Baleba remains firmly in the sights of Manchester United as they look to bolster their midfield options.

Baleba, 22, initially attracted the attention of the Red Devils last summer when personal terms had been tentatively agreed. Although a transfer did not materialize at that time, the club has continued to monitor his progress closely over the past year.

His current season with Brighton has been marked by challenges; Baleba has been substituted in 15 league matches, and notably, he has only completed the full match on three occasions. This inconsistency has raised concerns about his role in the team, particularly following four instances where he was replaced at half-time.

Nevertheless, Manchester United’s recruitment team retains faith in Baleba’s potential. They admire his athleticism, especially his ability to recover possession and advance the ball through the midfield, attributes that they believe align with the club’s long-term strategy.

The midfielder also showcased his skills on an international stage at the Africa Cup of Nations, where he played alongside Bryan Mbeumo for Cameroon. His performances during the tournament have been viewed positively within United’s circles, reinforcing their belief in his capacity to succeed at elite levels.

With the upcoming transfer window on the horizon, United’s ongoing interest in Baleba underscores that he remains a priority target as they seek to strengthen their squad.
