African athletics will take centre stage in May 2026, as the continent’s top track and field talent prepares to converge at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium for the much-anticipated African Senior Athletics Championships. The event is scheduled to run from Tuesday, May 12 to Sunday, May 17, promising a week packed with thrilling competition.
The championships will kick off with the men’s decathlon on the opening day, alongside heats in both the men’s and women’s 100m events, as well as the 400m and 400m hurdles. The day’s action will culminate in the mixed 4x400m relay heats.
On Day Two, the spotlight will shine on the finals of the men’s and women’s 100m races, complemented by the women’s hammer throw finals and the concluding mixed 4x400m relay finale.
The excitement will escalate further on Day Three, featuring high-stakes finals in the women’s 400m, men’s discus, men’s 800m, and women’s long jump. The women’s and men’s 4x100m relay heats will also be held, setting the stage for a captivating lineup.
