In a standout month for both teams, Orlando Pirates winger Oswin Appollis has earned headlines after being named Player of the Month for April, while Mamelodi Sundowns’ Miguel Cardoso continues his impressive form as he clinches his third consecutive Coach of the Month award.

Cardoso’s leadership has proven vital for Sundowns, steering the team to an impressive unbeaten streak that includes three wins and two draws in five outings, where they netted seven goals and conceded only two.

The Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed that Cardoso outperformed notable competitors including Orlando Pirates’ Abdeslam Ouaddou and Kaizer Chiefs’ Cedric Kaze and Khalil Ben Youssef, all of whom contributed to their teams’ ascent into the league’s top three with three victories in April.

Meanwhile, Appollis celebrated a triumphant month, marking his first Player of the Month accolade after an exceptional performance in which he scored four goals and provided one assist across four matches, significantly bolstering the Pirates’ title ambitions.

His remarkable strike against AmaZulu on April 18 also earned him the Goal of the Month award, further emphasizing his pivotal role in the club’s quest for silverware this season.

The award winners were chosen by an impartial panel comprising PSL-accredited journalists and broadcasters, ensuring a fair evaluation of performances throughout the month.

April judging panel: BBK Kortjaas (Sunday Times/Power FM, Convenor), Vaylen Kirkley (NewZroom Afrika), Reggie Ndlovu (SuperSport), Jabulani Dlamini (Siyakhula Sports News), Mihlali Baleka (The Star).
