Patrik Schick’s extraordinary performance proved pivotal as Bayer Leverkusen surged to a commanding 4-1 triumph over RB Leipzig on Saturday, positioning themselves firmly in the race for a Champions League spot.

The Bundesliga’s battle for Champions League qualification is heating up, with Leverkusen, Stuttgart, and Hoffenheim all locked on 58 points, vying for that valuable fourth position.
Schick opened the scoring in the 25th minute, calmly converting a pass from Nathan Tella and sending the ball low into the bottom corner to beat Leipzig’s goalkeeper, Maarten Vandevoordt.
Before half-time, Tella himself doubled the lead, finishing from close range off a corner delivered by Aleix Garcia.
Continuing to exert pressure, Schick struck again in the 76th minute, unleashing a fierce low shot into the bottom left corner that left Leipzig reeling.
Although Leipzig briefly threatened a comeback with Christoph Baumgartner scoring in the 80th minute, Leverkusen’s dominance was never truly in jeopardy.
Schick capped off his hat-trick in the dying moments of the match, netting his third after controlling a through ball from Alejandro Grimaldo and sliding it past Vandevoordt.

Schick’s hat-trick came from nine attempts (five on target) and included six big chances, exceeding his individual xG of 2.79.
