As anticipation builds for the next Africa Cup of Nations, Nigeria’s Super Eagles will learn their qualifying fate on Tuesday, 19 May, according to Completesports.com. The Super Eagles, who recently secured third place at the AFCON 2025 finals held in Morocco, will be among 48 teams vying for a spot in the 2027 tournament.
The qualifying process will involve 48 teams in total, including the co-hosts Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. Teams will be divided into 12 groups of four, with matches taking place during three FIFA international windows in September, October, and November.
Caf has outlined that the top two teams from each group will progress to the final tournament, which is set to take place from Saturday, 19 June to Saturday, 17 July 2027.
The opening match of the highly anticipated tournament will kick off on the inaugural date, followed by the final showdown on Saturday, 17 July 2027.
