In a significant move that highlights the rising trend of Ugandan talent in South Sudanese football, winger Martin Kizza Lubwama has officially joined El Merriekh SC Bentiu on a six-month contract.
The 28-year-old international, who has showcased his skills across several African leagues, passed his medical examination with flying colors and is eager to infuse the club with his renowned pace and agility. Kizza’s impressive dribbling ability, precise passing, and versatile shooting skills are set to make a considerable impact in the South Sudanese top flight.
A Versatile Career
Kizza’s most recent tenure was with Fassil Kenema in the Ethiopian Premier League. His career has also taken him to South Africa, where he played for Royal Eagles and Free State Stars. Before venturing abroad, Kizza was a key player in Ugandan football, making his mark with esteemed clubs such as Sports Club Villa, Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Express, and Vipers.
As a seasoned veteran of the game, Kizza has represented the Uganda Cranes on 15 occasions. His move to El Merriekh SC Bentiu adds him to a growing roster of Ugandan players in South Sudan, joining the likes of Jude Ssemugabi and Motta at Jamus FC, and others who play for clubs including Malakia, Wajuma, Kator, and Atlabara.
