In the ever-evolving landscape of heavyweight boxing, the stakes couldn’t be higher as former opponents Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua gear up for a highly anticipated showdown. Swedish heavyweight Otto Wallin has voiced his insights, suggesting that Fury still holds the edge as the favourite to triumph over Joshua, despite previously asserting that the latter posed a greater challenge during their encounters.
Speaking to World Boxing News, Wallin highlighted Fury’s advantages, attributing his likely success to superior boxing skills, remarkable size, and adeptness in movement. “Yeah, I think he can,” Wallin remarked when asked about Fury’s chances against Joshua. “I think it’s a close fight, though. Joshua is obviously a big puncher, and Fury is a very good fighter, so it’s an interesting fight.”
Despite his preference for Fury, Wallin did not underestimate Joshua’s potential, noting that the British boxing star could pose significant problems, particularly if he prioritizes body shots to diminish Fury’s effectiveness. “It kind of depends on seeing where they are both at, but with a good game plan, I think Fury can beat Joshua. Also, the other way around, I think Joshua can beat Fury.”
Wallin concluded that this clash is a closely contested match-up, making it challenging to predict a definitive winner at this stage. “For me, it’s a close fight and hard to pick a winner right now,” he stated, underscoring the thrilling uncertainty surrounding this eagerly awaited bout.
